Need more interest in rm

I've been noticing a steady downward trend of people showing up in the chat box and just a seemingly large lack of interest in the site. I have only seen perhaps 20 members that are around fulltime and the rest are either rarely around or not at all. For some reason when we went through the server changeover interest in the chat box and in the general threads has nearly died. I'm not sure what to do about this or how we can give charge from a booster pack to this community.

Perhaps I am just not on at the right times to see others here but I do remember a few months ago being able to pop in here and there were always new threads being posted by the count of 20-30 new ones every time I logged in and generally 5-10 people in the chat at all times.

The only thing that I have seen that could be a small part of the cause is the seemingly lack of interest by those who are staff on this site in the competitions and Battlefield. I am just as guilty of this and have no wish to put myself on any sort of pedestal but I do want to see this site grow into the vision that Tesla gave me about 2 months after I joined.

I am willing to do my part and make a resolution now that I will try and participate in as many of the competitions as possible as well as get my butt in gear and get serious about hte Battlefield to make it successful. The other area that I want to focus on for myself is the 40k section in general, i think if all of us who are regulars here or staff all take ownership of one of the sections then we can turn this around and have a very informative and fun place to be.

The only thing that i have left to say is who is with me?

I've been a mod for years at a firearms forum, we have seen many spurts of growth and then slowing. Keep it friendly here, watch the traders and the site will continue to prosper.

first maybe how dakkadakka member did this thread called tale of x gamers its when they start an army with so many pts each week it gets bigger and bigger and u need the stuff painted by the end of week and we play a battle in the BF40k i think thats a good idea or maybe some more comps not just for painting but other things

Hmm Interesting but maybe it its a coincidence that life can interrupt. After all I noticed a stream of absences because of real life problems and it is near the end of the year. people have studying, going on trips, spending time with the loved ones, believe it or not going on the internet may be a weekly or even monthly thing people do. But yes there has been quite a reduction and it saddens me that I spend far much more time in other forums than this one. After all this was once the bustle back in the good days of 40k terra. I remember seeing many faces that would become rarer these day. Well you know some times people move on. I used to be a big Gamefaqer but I slowly closed off going to certain boards and now I dont even go to their TF2 section. Same here I guess where some people stop going. Heck I did that once last year from like march to may I think before coming back disgruntled at my situations.

Lets hope it gets better though!

Well for one it seems to me the chatbox being at the top of the page actually reduces activity and turns new members off.

The tabs drive me crazy and for new users maybe such an unproven and new layout isn't the best.

The trading areas are cool but if this is a market forum the deals and threads need more help, possibly a running banner of new threads/deals. Deals of the day or pictures at the top of the page or pages would be good to Promote TRADING. it would make people more inclined to join and post trade threads if the higherups would help promote.

Tesla and I have talked and I gave him some ideas that other forums don't have but have proven effective on forums for other hovvies/interests. In the coming months or even weeks things should ramp up, easier browsing and focus on discussion of the hobby and trading seperately, as to not water down both.

Hope this helps, love this forum. Also I'm using some of my books to auction off, and create some interest when we kick off the new ideas maybe attract some new members, bring back others, or retain you loyalists. And btw around $200 worth of books, and increasing (all 40k).

This site is my favorite forum site.the chat box thing is cool,but you need to put the chat box on its on section. in my opinion wheres its at is annoying.your swap shop forum is the best. you let us set are own guidelines which is great especially for the intros.just like the newspaper and you keep the auctions seperately.dakka swap shop page is horible.its just a ebay classfied section which stinks.overall your site is great keep up the good work. ill keep spreading the word.

There is a powerful, chatroom system, but we would need to do some fund raising...

A lot of stuff thats holding us back is the funding, currently having to dish out 150$ a month for a dedicated rig. The placement of the chatbox, can be on the bottom of the page instead, if thats better?

There is a stronger chatroom system, that can be in a popout window and such.. but its pricey.

There is a 'new' bigger plan to expand RM into a next gen site, its a bit classified until we get more funding.

well i have been dropping off the face of the world of forums for a while. mainly because of high school certificate i am studying for atm. but when i am finished next year i will be hopefully on more often. plus considdering i got a 6 week holiday yay for me meaning more time to wipe dust off models and finish painting (OMG so boring painting 200 and something IG) plus plenty of tanks.

but forums always have ups and downs it just depends on whats happening.

Real life kicked in for lots of us, so that is a general issue apparently. As for the activity of the staff and other members regarding competitions, tournaments and such... that i don't get. THere are a few competitions open as we speak but... just me and IWC (and we're the ones who always finish last) are up for it?

I think it's some general lack of entusiasm due to the end of the year, so i'm hoping it will blow away.

Oh, an, anyone thinking that the site layout is turning away users, think again i know from first hand that people are staying because of the layout

December is ALWAYS the lowest traffic every year.

Its the holiday stuff. Summer packs the most traffic. Its a trend, and it happens. Its ok.

Yeah, It's hell right now. Lots of people have school, I got work and finals still!

Things will pick up january I'd imagine. One thing I can think of is changing of the forum coloration, to be honest when we were still 40kterra I loved the colorscheme we had, the red and white just doesn't feel right now =/.

I'll be on the prowl getting new members soon, as soon as I get time to breathe.

i know ive not been about as much as when i joined partly because i dont have the money for buying and ive very little to trade and the money hinders plans of new armies etc for which advice would be sought on here

Yea me too. Have to study for AP class. I never intended to have and AP class but they changed it for this year

Well the Class was origionally called Humanities which is like History but mainly on Culture. Its 2 years but thanks to stupid schools now its changed into this abomination of English and World History AP (the original class counted as honors). Its not as fun as last year and now we basically have to repeat last year english AND this year only counts for half a credit of AP. We got the short end of the stick. Hear the english portion of this exam is going to suck your soul
