Default Canadian Ebay users please read

This is something that we should all be aware of as the Canadian Federal Government has posted this. CANOE Money - News: Watch out eBay entrepreneurs: online sales taxable

Please make yourself aware of this as it could land you in hot water with the Tax Man

To my understanding any income is taxable. If you win the lottery for a million, you're not taxed on the million right away.. you've made an extra one million dollars in income for the fiscal year. You cut your neighbors lawn each week and he gives you 10 bucks... that's taxable income. It's whether you declare it or not is what this news is all about. In BC, we have 7% sales tax for all goods called PST (provincial sales tax), and the Federal GST (General Sales Tax) on everything. The plan to "harmonize" them and call it the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) AND up it another 1%..... @$$ rapists!

Not entirely true, in Canada you can only be taxed on "winnings" if you are living off them. If you have a job that still supports your bills the gov. cannot touch them.

Also you have to remember that Art is a tax free institution. If you are doing commission and you as a entity are not charging a sales tax, it is untaxable. Like Delta said, if it isn`t your primary income source, it is non taxable since it isn`t your means by which you live. If it is your primary source though, online transactions are a grey area, but if done localwise and such, it is free expression and is like religion, untaxable.
