Default People having to pay to recieve package?

According to Nidplayer, who lives in Canada, he had to pay to recive my package that I sent via USPS. Now I'm recieving a package from him UPS and it has a C.O.D. He's saying he wasn't aware that it was going to charge me. Has anyone else heard of this?

unless you specifically stated wanting C.O.D. from him upon delivery USPS fees are paid up front by you and upon delivery he should not have had to pay anything (unless there's something about Canadian mail delivery I've not encountered before in dozens of shipments to there.)

I would ask for proof that he paid an extra fee (via a reciept screenshot or something)

BTW what is the C.O.D. amount on your package?

COD stands for "Cash On Delivery" so if he sent the package COD, then he had to be aware it would charge you when you received it..

Did you send your package as a "gift" on the international shipping paper work? If not he may have had to pay an import tax.
I just completed a trade to the Ukraine, he and I both marked the "gift" box to avoid the import tax if any.

Yes - its true - due to taxation in recieving packages.

It depends on the value you put on the product during customs.

    Canada.. loves to tax.

Maybe a canadian can clarify it more.. i just know its true

    Default Taxation

Well, I am up in Canada, Quebec, to be exact, and yes, Canada is a tax pirate. The thing is if you declare a value and then do not mark gift or sample, you will have the declared value taxed and the customer will have to pay the 14% tax on the items.

So for trades here, it is a gift, and sales are counted as thust, since you are NOT a store! So just be sure to keep your declared value low and check gift and write metal or plastic minitures or model parts.

I have been doing this for 5 years and since it is a "trader market" the only tax is on the shipping when you pay for the initial postage.

yeah, anytime you trade be sure to make the package as a gift. this will aviod paying the import taxes. another thing ive heard about from a cos of mine (who does alot of transactions through e-bay) is if you put the value of the item really low (5 bucks what ever) the person your trading with would ot have to pay as much (altough this will hurt you if your package goes awol and you have to clam insurence on it)

Well, I was not aware, so I didn't mark it as a gift. DOH! That sucks.
