    Default packing for shipping

Guys I know this is kinda pissy but when you trade with someone you should consider ensuring the models get where they are going without a bunch of damage. I will not call names but I have had 2 or 3 trades/deals where the minis got to me with over 50% of them damaged. You can't stuff 10 figures in a little padded envelope and expect them to make it undamaged. Next time this happens to me I will post the names of the trader. I don't do business like that and don't expect anyone to do it to me. On one of the trades I spent $18 to ship and they spent $2. Just a little consideration.

amen to this, i've also been victim of getting poorly packaged trades resulting in damage to the minis and that's really uncalled for.

when you make a trade, you expect to get your items as described, not a jumbled mess of broken parts. it's very easy to create a package that will be safe thru the mailing system. since USPS charges on weight vs size, i've been creating my own boxes by cutting them down to size so not only will they cost less to mail, but they will be more secure by giving the contents less room to shift around.

packing peanuts and bubblewrap are your firends, yall.

good post pete, i back this 100%.

we have come to feast upon your souls...

Agreed Pete. I think I know who some of the worst packing offenders are. They need to realize that the deal is not over until the other party receives their models intact. That is the reason that ebay has a rating on packaging.

    Couldn't agree more Pete.

I don't like to spend anymore than I have to when shipping, but at the same time I want what I ship to be received in the condition I promised it.

People, your reputation is ALL you have that's of importance when trading online. why sully that with shoddy shipping methods all the in the name of saving a few $.

Some tips to people who want to ship cheap:

WRAP THE MINIS IN NAPKINS OR NEWSPAPER - this ALONE will help provide cushion/padding and is DIRT cheap and takes little to no time.

ZIPLOC BAG ALL WRAPPED MINIS - after the minis are wrapped add a further security measure that will protect against LOSING the minis should your package be damaged (ripped envelope/box happens more often than you think.) and if done right bagging them and sealing out the air will keep the wrapped minis from 'jostling' about. This, again, is a DIRT cheap method (can substitute sandwhich bags for the Ziploc... but it's no where near as secure.

CRUSHED NEWSPAPER TO FILL PACKAGE SPACE - if you're shipping something in a box and have space (however small) left over, fill that space with crushed newspaper. Stops things from being 'jostled' around and, again, is DIRT CHEAP.

if you can't be bothered to do these simple things, then you should not be trading. There's NO excuse that these common, everyday, household items can't be employed in your shipping process to further ensure a proper and happy trade ending.

Good example today, I received a Rhino from an ebay deal. It was a newer trader and he was cheap on his shipping price. Unfortunately even though bubble wrapped it was in a padded envelope and arrived with the left track section broken off, the handles, exhaust and smoke dispensers all broken and an antenna broken off. All repairable, but I let the seller know he should charge a couple more bucks for shipping and use a box. He was very nice and apologetic, offered a rfund or trade, but it still was a learning experience for him.

Okay, a follow up to how to pack. One of these is actually from BigPete, so be aware that he does practice what he preaches. All of these arrived today. One with9 donor and nearly unbreakable figures in a corrugated box and padded, a bag of bits in another solid box with peanuts, and finally Pete's, wrapped in bubble foam and with peanuts in a box! This is what good packing looks like.

Come on guys! I am sick of getting stuff in the mail that is borderline destroyed. All because someone doesn't want to take the time to package stuff for shipping correctly. The latest cluster**** is 15 demonettes I bought, didn't haggle on the price, I thought it was fair, I wanted the minis not because I was gonna use them in a game but because they looked cool. So today they arrive IN A FLAT PADDED MAILER! Oh they were wrapped with about 15 sheets of TP in a ziplock bag. Of the 15 only 8 arrived unbroken. here is a pic of the "padding"
and here are the other 7 in various state of damage. So from now on I will start posting negative feedback on those who don't have enough respect for a buyer to at least try to ensure items arrived in the same condition as they were sent. YES I AM PISSED OFF!! The person responsible for this mess knows who you are, make it right.

I dont think it was the packing that made those deamonettes break...to much kinky fun times for them on the way there...and not everyone of them could handle it...haha

But really that is messed up man...I would somewhat pissed if that happened to me like that...if I use a package like that it was for a spruce or something along those lines...or some small item that I try to wrap up before I ship...

    Default packing

i agree. I think you should do your buyer/trade partner the courtesy of sending items in the condition that you advertise them. Anything less is just borderline dishonest.

Seriously is it that freaking hard to use a lil bubble wrap and a BOX. It's much safer and easier for everyone involved go spend the extra few bucks so you don't seem like a dick for bad packing. I once got 30 orcs in the pic they were all assembled. When I got em 90% were broke the kid wrapped each model in a piece of toilet paper and threw them in a box how pathetic.

I'm sorry about what happened to you on the last shipment that pissed you off Pete. Be assured the models I paint and trade will be pro packed. I purchased foam and a hotwire cutter just to make custom shipments Overkill but if I spent the time to paint a model the customer WILL get the model intact!

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ON SHODDY PACKING PRACTICES!

    shame on you..

It's not like you have to pay for boxes. The flat rate priority boxes are free. I have a stack of them straight from the post office.

Yes, LB is definately saying to give Negative feedback on Shoddy Packagers, as they deserve it. Then goes on to say Shame on you to those who earn the neg feedback, not on the person giving it.

I left him a message to let him know about the damage, he has not been on since 9/16, IMHO just another hit and run guy trying to make a buck. If he has a RL problem I understand but I usually follow up to ensure stuf I send gets where it needs to like it's supposed to. I will wait until monday and then will post at least neutral feedback.

Okay, 15 minis will easily fit into a small box that will protect them. Even shipping first class is only 2-3 dollars. C'mon people, if you can't afford that then you should ask the person if they can wait for a couple days unbtil you cn wash a car or something.

I got a fully loaded out Forge World BattleWagon free due to some chucklehead. Friend of mine won it on e-bay and the idiot that sent it to him just put it in a shoebox. That was it. He handed it to me since he just collected FW and I run Orks. Luckily the only thing "broken" was a roadwheel the rest came apart at glues seams. I did offer to pay him for it since it would need to be stripped to make it a display piece but he declined my offer.
