Need advice on a trader not responding.

Hey guys,

I have done a trade with a gentleman here at Rogue Market.com.

However he is also a member at barter town which I have traded on for years, and had a Bartertown rating of 120! (yes one hundred and twenty). He also provided his email and his phone number (very gentlemanly of him). So before I sent the money, I called him and talked to him on the phone.

He was a very pleasant person, I like him quite a bit. So that, coupled with the fact that he was an older gamer (like myself), and used to be one of the "watchmen" on barter town I felt very comfortable with him.

So I sent him the money for his minatures on the 21st of June, he said he would ship that monday on the 22nd.

its now been several weeks and no package. I sent him two emails to his yahoo account email, with no response. I called him on his cell phone, which he did not answer, and left him a message, with no response. I then sent him a PM on Rogue market.com, on the 5th, and saw that he logged in again on 7th. So I know that he is active on the internet, and that he had read at LEAST my PM.

Also he is doing a trade with another person here on Rogue Market, and has replied to THEM via PM on Sunday (the 5th) when he logged in, giving them his paypal account, but has still not answered any of my emails or phone messages.


So my frustration is that he has my $175, and is NOT returning my calls or emails. But I feel like he is a good guy, at least with a stellar previous trading record.

Any suggestions?

Could you PM myself, or jasonlewis with as much info that you can give us, copy/pasting the pm's between you two would be a good place to start, and we'll see what we can do.

Agreed Githros. I actually dont like it when a member witha complaint out against them continues to trade. I would also recommend contacting paypal if you used them. Let them get to the bottom of the situation.

as much as I can see that you don't want to drag this person's name through the mud, prolly best you give them a warning that you'll have to go public if he doesn't respond (in the least...).

but keeping his name private for the sake of his reputation when he's gone so far as to ignore you basically, is risky for others who might be involved in trades with him. This is how scams get rolled out.

Worst case scenario you drag it through mud (if he *still* ignores you after the warning of your intent.) and when he finally gets his act together you wash it off with an explanation of things working out.

Well I dont *KNOW* that its a bad trade yet. Nor that he has bad intentions. He has a very stellar previous trading record.

My frustration is this:

Answer my emails.

If you have my money, you owe me the courtesy of answering my emails, and if he had answered but ONE email, or phone message I would not be worried.

now things happen. Im OK with that.

Perhaps something came up with life. Sure! Perhaps he is just being a late shipper. Heck, *IVE* been a late shipper some times. OOOPS! it happens, that doesnt make you a bad trader at all.

Just tell me. send me an email saying "you know, its been dang busy, havent shipped out yet, ill get to by Friday.. etc".

Im ok with that.

Hopefully he will respond and we will all have a good laugh about this.

well obviously you dont want to rush into things and scream "scammer! scammer!" but if you've given ample time and warnings of going public and he still chooses to ignore you, then I believe you've done all you can in the matter.

There's civility and then there's humility. I believe everyone deserves time or a second chance if offered those options, but if he chooses not to respond, you can only offer knowledge to others to help them avoid making a *potential* mistake with this same person.
